Germany has scrapped plans to build a flagship high-speed rail link between Munich and its airport due to ballooning costs.The Transrapid magnetic levitation train is one of the world's fastest trains, and was developed by German engineers at Siemens and ThyssenKrupp. Industry sources said the costs had soared mainly due to the costs of the track. The only Transrapid magnetic levitation train being used commercially is in China - linking Shanghai city centre with its airport. Joanna Partridge reports
