Travellers flying between the nine countries which joined Europe's passport-free Schengen zone will no longer face border checks. The nine new members joined Europe's Schengen area in December, where people travel without showing passports, but border checks at airports could only be introduced after the March 30 twice-yearly change of flight schedules. There are hopes that the end of border checks for passengers flying within the Schengen zone will also help boost air traffic in the nine new member countries: Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta and Slovenia.
