Locals in a small Italian town drape statue of Saint in wriggling reptiles for annual parade.The 'Serpari Festival' in the town of Cucullo in Italy's Abruzzo region takes place every year on the first Thursday of May. The roots of the festival can be traced back to pagan times when a local tribe, the Marsi, worshipped the Snake Goddess, Angitia.
