Athletes from around the globe have descended upon Beijing ahead of the start of the 2008 Olympic Games on Friday (August 8).Arriving to large crowds at Beijing Capital International airport, athletes were greeted by intense media interest. Among the teams arriving in Beijing was the US Olympic swimming team and Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal. Speaking to reporters after his long flight Nadal said, "my expectation right now is to arrive to the villa and have a bit of calm because I have had a very long travel and later try to enjoy my first day."
