Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday evening continued his full-blown attack against the hard left Tsipras government, saying the latter has "demolished the middle class" in Greece.
Mitsotakis, appearing on the prime-time television newscast of an Athens-based broadcaster, denied that he pledged to abolish a 14th salary paid to wage-earners in the private sector before the Christmas holiday. The same extra salary had been cut in the public sector back in 2010.
"I am against a (state) policy based on welfare," he emphasized, saying the previous claims was circulated by pro-government media, and essentially "fake news".
