German coach Michael Skibbe's tenure on the Greek national team's bench has apparently come to an end, with a formal announcement expected this week by the country's football federation (EPO).
The more-or-less expected coaching reshuffle comes after a string of disappointing appearances by the national team, especially a 2-0 away loss this month to Finland for the newly established Nations League playoffs.
According to reports, the Greek federation has rejected a severance pay demand of 500,000 euros. The 53-year-old Skibbe assumed the reins of the Greek side in November 2015 after series of dreadful performances in the 2016 Euro playoffs.
His current contract extends until the end of the playoffs for the Euro 2020.
