Main opposition New Democracy (ND) party on Monday demanded that the relevant Greek defense and foreign affairs ministers provide documentation to Parliament regarding a controversial contract to sell surplus military ammunition and ordnance to Saudi Arabia.

The development comes a week after the issue first arose, with the opposition charging, among others, that the deal had been facilitated via a shady middleman and outside the margins of a government-to-government agreement.

The center-right opposition party also cited what it called DM Panos Kammenos' "insulting" references to Greece's consul general in Riyadh and a lack of any endorsed documents in the "paper trail" leading from Saudi Arabia to Athens.
