The elimination of a night-time shift at the port of Thessaloniki's gate 16 by the customs service has reportedly caused international shipping agencies to avoid the northern Greece destination - whose port authority is in the process of being privatized.
The shift was eliminated days ago, amid negative reactions by shipping interests and Thessaloniki's business community.
According to the president a union representing shipbrokers and agents in Thessaloniki, Vassilis Kampakis, who spoke to "N", international shippers have criticized the development and, in many, turned to alternative routes.
