Greece's environment and energy ministry has reportedly submitted proposals to the EU Commission for renewable energy sources projects in the country estimated to total 1.2 to 1.5 billion euros between the 2018-2020 period.
The proposals outline tenders and licensing of wind parks and photo-voltaic panels totaling 1,300 MW.
The plan submitted by Athens essentially aims to lay out the reasoning why the Greek side wants to bypass the current EU framework for RES projects, whereby all types of categories (wind, sun, biomass, geothermal etc) must participate together, without any technology excluded.
Athens wants an exclusion from EU directives, at least in the initial phase, in order to allow wind and solar energy producers.
