Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday received visiting European Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, with talks – according to the former'σ office – focusing on the Greek program and the overall condition of the Greek economy.
The Greek side, in fact, underlined that the discussions were held in a positive atmosphere.
According to a press release, both sides agreed that Athens is close to the completion of a second review of the Greek program (third bailout) and that talks over debt relief need to commence at the Dec. 5 Eurogroup meeting.
Tsipras reportedly cited the positive performance of the Greek economy, as he assessed, while both men agreed that the country’s economy is on the rebound, i.e. projected GDP growth.
Μeanwhile, asked by "N" if a same-day proposal by Greek FinMin Euclid Tsakalotos to reduce primary budget surplus targets in return for Athens' commitment to use the difference to offset taxes and social security contributions is a Greek government position, a source at the premier's office replied:
"Under no circumstances did it just pop out of his (Tsakalotos) head."
