A torrential thunder storm over the greater Athens area in the early morning hours of Sunday caused several flood-related problems, including knocking out three metro stations.
More than 200 calls to the fire brigade were reported, requests for pumping out floodwaters from basement and ground-level apartments. Eight emergency calls were received to evacuate trapped individuals.
A handful of major intersections, all below ground level, were also blocked due to floodwaters.
One metro station, Megaron Mousikis, remained out of commission on Sunday morning.
