Downtown Athens’ iconic Hotel Grande Bretagne has again been included in the “Best Hotels in the World” category by the international travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler, as voted by its readers.
The King George Hotel, two doors down from the Grande Bretagne, is also an honoree in the 2016 list for the first time.
Both well-known Athens hotels are located on Syntagma Square, across from Greece’s Parliament.
The “Readers’ Choice Awards” has honoured 1,396 winners, selected by some 300,000 readers taking part in the 2016 Readers’ Choice Survey, with other voting categories for the best cities, islands, hotels and transportation in the world. The awards were published in the November 2016 issue of the international magazine.
Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George are owned and controlled, respectively, by Lampsa Hellenic Hotels S.A, a subsidiary company of the Laskaridis group, and managed by Marriott International Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) -- the world’s largest hotel company based in Bethesda, Maryland.
