Acropolis the next stop on Obama itinerary in Athens

US President Barack Obama was scheduled to tour the Acropolis, in central Athens, on Wednesday morning, with Greece’s best-known and most-visited archaeological site closed to the public in anticipation of the visit by the US leader.

US President Barack Obama was scheduled to tour the Acropolis, in central Athens, on Wednesday morning, with Greece’s best-known and most-visited archaeological site closed to the public in anticipation of the visit by the US leader.

Obama arrived in Athens on Tuesday and will depart on Wednesday afternoon after giving an address at a new coastal cultural complex, the state-of-the-art Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).

After Athens Obama will be received in Berlin by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, with the Greek debt issue, among others, expected to be discussed.
