The Greek budget recorded a surplus of 1.306 billion euros over the January-October period, greatly improving from a shortfall of 793 million euros in the corresponding period in 2015, according to provisional budget execution data on an amended cash basis, according to the state-run news agency.

The budget recorded a primary surplus of 6.497 billion euros in the 10-month period, from a primary surplus of 4.532 billion in the same period last year and a budget target for a primary surplus of 1.791 billion euros.
State budget net revenue was 42.804 billion euros, up 1.572 billion euros or 3.8 pct from budget targets. Regular budget net revenue was 40.070 billion euros, up 2.398 billion or 6.4 pct from budget targets.
Tax returns amounted to 2.386 billion euros, down 145 million from targets. Public Investment Programme revenue totalled 2.734 billion euros, down 826 million from budget targets.
In October, state budget net revenue was 4.980 billion euros, up 1.058 billion from monthly targets. Regular budget net revenue was 4.822 billion, up 915 million from targets. Tax returns in October totalled 237 million euros, down 127 million from monthly targets.
