Cash registers, POS terminals still offline with tax bureau's server

Changes in the legal framework and a ministerial decision apparently aren’t enough to commence the obligatory online transfer of data from practically all types of electronic transactions in the country to a server operated by the general secretariat for public revenues, as the initiative remains in limbo 10 months after being approved.

The idea was to curb almost widespread tax evasion and VAT avoidance through the online data collection system. Cash registers, POS terminals and even commercial mobile phones were scheduled to be hooked up to the state-of-the-art and high-security system.

According to reports, the ministerial decision spelled out the technical details for connecting cash registers with the dedicated server, located within the finance ministry.
