Turkish military transport in pecular early morning flyover of Greek islet

A Turkish military plane entered the Athens FIR at 03.38 (01.38 GMT) on Thursday and subsequently violated Greek airspace, with the aircraft flying over the small islet of Panaghia at an altitude of 3,400 feet, a Greek military press release reported later in the morning.

The aircraft was identified as a twin-engine turbo-prop CN-235, which Turkey uses for maritime patrols and transport.

The aircraft exited the Athens FIR two minutes after it entered, only to return some two hours later for another flyover of the islet.

The airplane was identified and monitored based on international rules and standing practice.
