An inaugural international conference on “wine tourism” will take place on the unrivaled Greek isle of Santorini this month, taking advantage of one of Greece’s best-known holiday destinations.

The conference, which is sponsored by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), is targeted to academics, researchers, tourism professional and, of course, wine experts.

The idea is to promote Greece as an enduring all-round and all-season destination, in tandem with the country’s increasingly sophisticated viniculture and viticulture sector.

The conference will take place between Oct. 14 and Oct. 16.

Santorini, also known as Thira, is itself a well-known producer of a variety dry white wines.
