The Cosco-led Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) on Monday inaugurated a new cruise ship pier at port, with new infrastructure able to service vessels of up to 280 meters.
According to Cosco President Capt. Xu Lirong, OLP and Cosco’s goal is to fully connect maritime traffic between China and Piraeus, as well as to boost the cruise sector at the port, with the goal being to turn Piraeus into a home port for all of the world’s biggest operators.
The goal, according to the shipping giant, is three million cruise ship passenger passing through Piraeus on a yearly basis.
Xu noted that Cosco is already promoting Greece as a European tourism destination for Chinese holiday makers.
