Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, speaking from the podium of the 71st UN general assembly on Monday, warned the international community that if it fails to deal with the current refugee / migrant crisis, then it will merely allow nationalist and xenophobic powers to re-emerge.
The Greek prime minister also referred to a “major challenge” entailed in the mass movement of people, adding that no one country can deal with the phenomenon alone.
“In the face of this challenge, the Greek people, despite facing a deep economic crisis, has provided an answer on a daily basis for the past year and a half, with only one answer: Yes, it is our duty.”
