A Russian-flagged tanker was boarded and inspected by Greek coast guard officers last week after information reached authorities alleging possible violations of EU sanctions against Syria.
The vessel, identified as the “Yaz”, was boarded off Corinth, in southern Greece. A subsequent search reportedly led to evidence that led to charges being filed against the ship’s skipper for violations of EU law.
An investigation is continuing.
