A group representing pensioners who retired as civil servants this week filed a motion with the Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court, to overturn two ministerial decisions cutting primary and supplementary pensions.
Another petition demands the abolition of another ministerial decision, the product of legislation passed in May 2016 to meet memorandum-mandated fiscal targets through 2018, which caps monthly pension payments at 1,300 euros per month.
The latter measure foresees the 1,300-euro per month ceiling regardless of the funds allocating benefits and the type of social security,
The motions were filed by the National Federation of Civil (sector) Pensioners.
