ECB cites improved liquidity situation in Greece to reduce ELA ceiling

The ECB’s governing council on Wednesday approved a reduction of 2.5 billion euros in the ELA ceiling for Greek banks, with the figure now at 58.6 billion euros, following a request by the Bank of Greece.

The ECB’s governing council on Wednesday approved a reduction of 2.5 billion euros in the ELA ceiling for Greek banks, with the figure now at 58.6 billion euros, following a request by the Bank of Greece.

According to a ECB press release, the reduction “reflects an improvement of the liquidity situation of Greek banks, amid a reduction of uncertainty and the stabilization of private sector deposits flows.”
