Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday promised to back entrepreneurship in the recession-plagued country, speaking before an employers’ and industrialists’ group in Athens.
Mitsotakis, who assumed ND’s reins in an internal party election in early 2016 on a mostly reform-minded platform, told participants at the annual Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) general assembly that the emphasis was on achieving a safer environment for investments, “with low taxes and a limited state role”.
He said his center-right party’s “absolute priority” was to create new jobs in the country.
