The Bundestag’s budget committee on Wednesday postponed a decision on ratifying a 7.5-billion-euro loan tranche to Greece for its next session, saying Athens first needs to implement a “small number” of agreed to prior actions.

The announcement was made by the CDU/CSU parliamentary representative on the committee, Eckhardt Rehberg.
“We did not release the disbursement of the next loan today because the implementation of a small number of agreed to measures by the Greek government are pending,” he said, adding:
“When these have been implemented we will deal, anew, with the issue.”
He clarified, nevertheless, that there are no serious problems with the prospect of now concluding the delayed first review of the Greek program (third bailout).
As Handelsblatt reported earlier, the German finance ministry circulated a letter to MPs on the committee briefing them that the German government now supports the disbursement of the first loan tranche to Greece.
