The world’s most prestigious maritime event, Posidonia, again opens its doors on Monday in Piraeus, the hub of Greece’s shipping sector, for an entire week, with a record number of participants cited this year by organizers.
The biennial event attracts Greek shipping interests from around the world, as well as participation from international shipyards, ship registers, contractors and service providers, given that Greek-owned shipping still comprises the biggest chunk of the world’s fleet.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will attend the exhibition’s inauguration, along with IMO general secretary Kitack Lim.
“Naftemporiki” will welcome delegates to the exhibition with a special Posidonia 2016 edition featuring interviews, reports and articles by the world’s top shipping sector executives.
The exhibition concludes on June 10 at the Metropolitan Expo facilities at the port of Piraeus.
