Completion of the now delayed first review of the Greek program (third bailout) and a possible agreement on Greek debt relief at next week’s Eurogroup meeting are the goals, a top Eurozone official said in Brussels on Monday.
An agreement is “difficult, due to the debt issue, but not impossible,” the same official said, adding that there are no open issues as far as the first review is concerned, “although there are certain things that must be regulated, primarily in terms of contingency measures, something that will be done within the week.”
The debt issue, on the other hand, is much more difficult, with the same official saying it is difficult to achieve a political agreement which would allow the IMF’s leadership to back such a deal.
