Greek PM: signs of 'economic recovery'; briefs Schulz on Greek program

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras took to Twitter on Thursday to state that his government has upheld it side of an agreement with creditors, while no new measures are necessary.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras took to Twitter on Thursday to state that his government has upheld it side of an agreement with creditors, while no new measures are necessary.

His statement came hours after a meeting in Strasbourg with EP president Martin Schulz.

Additionally, the Greek premier referred to what he called “signs” that the Greek economy is recovering.

Regarding the meeting with Schulz, which was scheduled at the last minute this week, he said the Greek side briefed the former on the two recently tabled draft bills on tax measures and pension reforms – two pieces of legislation that were abruptly announced on Tuesday without the prior approval of Greece’s institutional creditors.

He also said he was pleased with Schulz’s position that a first review of the Greek program should be achieved as soon as possible.
