A group of 45 migrants, 44 Somalis and one Afghan man, were detained by police along a coastal area in the Astakos district of western Greece.
The third country nationals, who had illegally entered Greece through the island of Lesvos (Lesbos) during the ongoing refugee crisis, were still in possession of a temporary residence permit handed out on the island.
The location were the irregular migrants were spotted, along the Ionian Sea, gave rise to police suspicions that the Third World nationals were waiting for smuggler’s vessel to ferry them across to Italy.
