The latest round of negotiations between the Greek government and the “quartet” of institutional creditors concluded at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning without any agreement, with talks expected to resume at the upcoming IMF spring meetings in Washington D.C.

The target of concluding talks and achieving a first review of the Greek program remains April 22, when a Eurogroup meeting is scheduled.

According to Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, the goal is for lenders’ representatives to return to Athens by next Monday and conclude a “staff level agreement” on all outstanding issues.

Nevertheless, in a bid to put a “brighter face” on negotiations, Tsakalotos told reporters in the wee hours of Tuesday that all sides agreed that progress was achieved on several major issues, “but because there are many lesser issues that we did not have time to discuss, we could not conclude a staff level agreement at this phase.”

According to reports, the dominant issue before negotiations stopped this week was cuts to supplementary pensions.
