The European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) 2016 was awarded to POLIN: the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, based in Warsaw, during a special ceremony in San Sebastian, Spain on Saturday.
The European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) 2016 was awarded to POLIN: the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, based in Warsaw, during a special ceremony in San Sebastian, Spain on Saturday.
The annual competition is organised by the European Museum Forum (EMF).
The museum will receive the EMYA trophy, known as the "The Egg" by Henry Moore, which it will keep for one year.
The 2016 Silletto Prize, which recognizes excellence in working with the local community and involving volunteers, went to the Vukovar City Museum in Vukovar, Croatia.
The EMYA 2016 judging panel’s special commendations also honored two Greek museums, the Archaeological Museum of Tegea near the Tegea archaeological site in the northeast Peloponnese and the Museum of Typography Hania, Crete.
