The Greek government believes it is on track to achieve the first review of the Greek program (third bailout) within the coming period, with a high-ranking meeting held on Monday morning at the prime minister’s office on the specific matter.

As previously reported, the issues of pension reform and tax hikes are nearing a conclusion, with non-performing loans still a “thorn”, according to information disseminated by the Greek government.

The still acute refugee problem was also reportedly discussed, where the need to reduce flows from neighboring Turkey was underlined, something that will once again necessitate contacts at the EU level – days after yet another high-profile EU-Turkey summit on the same exact problem.

Government sources also pointed to necessary hirings for the relevant migration policy ministry beyond the prescribed memorandum obstacles to more staff on the state payroll.
